LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - It is not a bridge too far in Longview. It is actually two bridges which will make hiking and biking a lot easier.
A new 90-foot pedestrian bridge was put into place across Grace Creek on the Paul Boorman Trail. It was one of two bridges that were installed to allow free movement for hikers and bikers wanting to avoid having to cross roadways. The city hopes to have the trail completed by summer.
"Once it's complete, it's going to go all the way from Highway 80 to Loop 281, and the section that's already in place is Highway 80 to Fairmont Street which is about 7,000 feet, and then the section from Fairmont to Loop 281 is another 9,000 feet so when it's all put together, it's going to be a great resource here for the community," said Shawn Harah, the Longview public information officer.
The bridges are the culmination of a $2,000,000 bond issue used for the renovation of the trail.
