MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Three men face charges after they were busted over the weekend at Memphis in May's Barbecue Fest.

The incident happened Saturday night, when Shelby County sheriff's deputies patrolling Tom Lee Park smelled something strange coming from booth S-200.

"There was a strong odor of marijuana," sheriff's department spokesperson Steve Shular said.

According to an arrest report, in the back of the tent, deputies found several men with "very bloodshot and red-rimmed eyes."

That was not all deputies found.

"Marijuana," Shular said. "Prescription drugs...a whole drug cabinet full of things."

Deputies found a total of 64 grams of pot and 100 assorted prescription pills.  Roy Hanes, Jr., James Innocenti, and Michael Happ are accused of slinging dope from the barbecue tent.

All three men, who belong to a team called the Shotwell Smokers, declined to comment for this story. Though they've been competing for at least the past 10 years, Memphis in May organizers say they will not be invited back.

"Certainly teams are celebrating," said Memphis in May executive vice president Diane Hampton. "This team, Shotwell Smokers, the celebration was way over the pale."

Hampton said Saturday's incident was the first time Memphis in May has ever had an issue with this team.
