Texas Legislatures Want to Fine Uninsured Drivers

They're trying to get uninsured drivers off Texas roads.

The Texas senate has approved a bill that would allow random checks to see if people are driving with insurance.

The bill requires 40 thousand Texas drivers each month to prove they are insured with at least the state set minimum.

If the bill passes in the house, the department would mail a letter to you asking for proof of insurance.

If you don't mail them back a copy of your insurance card -- you'll get a 250 dollar fine and your registration would be terminated.

Right now it is estimated 20 percent of Texas drivers don't have coverage.
