Mavericks 103 Trail Blazers 99 (Mavericks lead series 2-0)

Dallas-AP -- Steve Nash had 28 points and Dirk Nowitzki added 25 as Dallas outlasted Portland 103-to-99, giving the Mavericks a two-games-to-none lead in the series.

Nash shot 5-for-6 from beyond the arc, including a three-pointer that snapped a 98-to-98 tie with 30 seconds left. He scored eleven points in the final period to help the Mavs overcome Bonzi (BAHN'-zee) Wells' career-high 45 points. Nash also had eight assists and Nowitzki finished with nine rebounds.

Like Nash, Wells hit five of his six three-pointers. But he missed a key free throw in the closing seconds before Nash hit two from the line to put the game out of reach.

Wells scored 18 points in the final period. Rasheed Wallace had 18 points for the Trail Blazers, who played without Scottie Pippen. Damon Stoudamire started in place of Pippen, who was out with a knee injury.

Game three is Friday at Portland.
