LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas star was back home on Wednesday. The Washington Redskins first round pick, Trent Williams was honored with his own day in Longview. Williams admitted things couldn't get much better. He was the number four overall pick in the N.F.L. draft, joining a team that already has two Longview Lobos.
He gets to block for Donovan Cabby, play for a Super Bowl winning coach like Mike Shanahan and now his hometown honors him the key to the city. Williams never expected the honor.
"I know Adrian Peterson got a day named after him, but that's Adrian Peterson," said. "I never really expected Longview to do anything like this for me. I don't think the best artist could have drawn a better picture than this for me, so it's a blessing."
A lot is expected of Williams, who is already penciled in as a starter on the Redskins offensive line.
