TYLER, TX (KLTV) - They are a dynamic duo who are adventurous and fun. Now, all the brother and sister team needs is a family to share in their excitement.
Romelo and Shakyra are on a journey to find a forever family together. Romelo, 11, is in the fifth grade. He is developmentally delayed and functions at a level below his age. He has difficulty reading and writing and requires special education classes. In fact, Romelo loves school and works hard.
He loves to play outside and hopes his forever family will take help him explore the great outdoors.
"[I would love to] go camping together as a group," shared Romelo.
As for his three wishes, Romelo wants to travel.
"[I want to] go to Las Vegas, go to Hawaii and go to Los Angeles," he said.
A family that will recognize his strengths while encouraging him to work towards his educational goals will be ideal. It is important for Romelo to do the right thing--especially when it comes to being a big brother.
Younger sister Shakyra is nine years old and in the second grade.
"My favorite things to do is watch TV, play my game and ride my bike," she said.
Shakyra does well in school and says she even wants to be a teacher when she grows up. Her favorite subjects in school are math and reading, and her least favorite are science and writing.
When it comes to one of her wishes, she was quick with an answer.
"I'd like the whole world made of chocolate!" exclaimed Shakyra.
She is very attached to her brother even though they are not currently placed together. Both children were removed in 2005 as part of a sibling group of three.
Their adoptive family must also be willing to maintain a relationship with a brother who currently is in foster care.
No matter where their journey takes them, they want to be together and hope to find a family to show them the gift of love along the way.
