TYLER, TX (KLTV) - May 2010 was officially declared, Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month in the city of Tyler
Several local riders stood before Tyler City hall as Mayor Barbara Bass signed the proclamation.
"We're trying to get people to be aware," said "Buttershot," chairman of the Northeast Texas region of the Texas Confederation of Clubs and Independents motorcycle group.
He said the weather is getting better, which means more bikers will be hitting the roadways.
He said he hopes drivers at every East Texas intersection will take an extra second to look out for his motorcycle, as well as other riders.
It's reported 132 cities and 14 counties made similar proclamations, last year.
