TYLER, TX (KLTV) - TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Saturday morning, thousands of East Texans will participate in Tyler's Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
With it being Mother's Day weekend, it could be the perfect mother-daughter activity.
Organizers say the event has grown tremendously. Already this year they have more than 5,000 people registered. It is success they credit to the generosity of East Texans.
"It really touches home when you come out here and you see so many people and especially when you see the survivors," said Shelley Salvage, co-chair of the Tyler event. "They're wearing proudly their pink caps and pink shirts and you look at that and you can't help but be touched."
Registration begins at 6:30 in the morning.
The more people that come out, the more funds they can raise for grants and research to help find a cure.
