Needle sticking incident at Longview school being investigated

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Complaints have been filed with Longview Police Department over an incident involving kids sticking other children with a needle at a Longview school.

Parents filed complaints with police stating that on April 21st children at Foster Middle School were sticking other children with a needle, specifically, the type used by diabetics called a "lancet" to test blood sugar, which was brought to school by one of the students.

The concerned by the parents this is a health risk to students.

"[It's] a terrible way to transmit some kind of disease blood born disease back and forth," said Officer Kevin Brownlee, with Longview Police. "Obviously there's a health concern and the parents made an offense report to document what occurred and also to hold those that did it accountable. We suspect information. We know who the students were - who had the lancet. They've been identified. Appropriate charges are going to be filed with the Gregg County District Attorney's Office and hold them accountable for their actions."

One parent has already had her son medically tested for any possible diseases from the needle incident.

Police have not released how many children may be involved.
