15 railroad cars derail in Marshall

MARSHALL, TX (KLTV) - MARSHALL, TX (KLTV) - A train headed to Kansas City has derailed on North Washington Avenue, just north of Highway 80. Fifteen cars left the track.

Authorities say the train missed hitting the Texas and Pacific Railway Museum by about ten feet.

Marshall Police say there were no injuries and no hazardous materials were in any of the box cars.

The cause of the derailment is unknown at this time.

Authorities say it could be at least a day before all the repairs are finished. If you have travel arrangements in Marshall, you are asked to call Amtrak at 800-872-7245
