Former POWs Back in Texas

One former POW says he and the other soldiers rescued in Iraq are moved by the thousands of people who came out to welcome them home.

A beaming army specialist Joseph Hudson told the screaming crowd gathered at fort bliss that their greetings "mean the world" to the returning POW's.

He thanked the crowd for their "outstanding" support and said "this is why we live in a great country."

Thousands of people chanted "USA! USA!" as Hudson and other former POW's first stepped off their plane. Five of the soldiers are based at Fort Bliss and were immediately embraced by family members waiting at the foot of the plane.

Two other soldiers will fly on to Fort Hood for their homecoming. The group of seven were rescued by Marines in Iraq a week ago when their Iraqi guards left their posts as US Marines approached.
