An effort to raise money for a cure to cancer, was the reason a big group mounted up and hit the trail today.
It was the first annual trail ride for life in the Gilmer area benefiting the American Cancer Society. Over 40 East Texas cowboys and cowgirls paid an entry fee and saddled up for a 4 hour trail ride, to raise money and awareness that a cure still needs to be found for cancer.
For many it was an opportunity to do what they like doing best, riding and help a worthy cause. Organizers had a goal of raising $5-6,000 thousand dollars from the event.
