UPDATE: Funerals planned for 2 high schoolers killed in separate crashes

BROWNSBORO, TX (KLTV) -

CAYUGA/BROWNSBORO, TX (KLTV) - Two East Texas communities are mourning the loss of two high school students, killed in separate car crashes this week.

Alex Conway was a senior at Brownsboro High School. Police say it appears she ran a red light when a tractor trailer smashed into her Camaro. The accident happened on Monday, and the 18-year-old died at a Tyler hospital Wednesday afternoon. Alex was on the volleyball team and in the marching band. Friends and family say she will be remembered by her laughter.

"She was just a funny," said Jeff Russell, the high school band director. "When things weren't going right, she could always inject something that would break the moment up and she was a good leader, too, especially with the younger kids."

Conway's family says that funeral arrangements are underway.

Services have been set for 16-year-old Lindsey Lemon. Her funeral is Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Cayuga High School gym. The sophomore was on her way home from school with her brother when a truck crossed the center line and crashed into them. Lindsey was a cheerleader and manager of the women's basketball team.
