A tense situation on the interstate Friday as rescue workers attempted to free a truck driver from his crushed cab.
Around 10:00 a.m.on I-20, state troopers say the driver of an 18 wheeler fell asleep at the wheel and ran off an embankment. The truck then crashed into trees and flipped leaving the driver trapped upside down in his cab.
Emergency crews worked for nearly two hours, cutting away pieces of the truck until the driver was finally free. He was then hospitalized with non-serious injuries.
Quite a mess was left behind. His truck spilled 40,000 pounds of frozen chicken on the side of the road. A passenger was pulled out of the truck with minor injuries.
