LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - A little taste of Army life was given to some East Texas high school students Wednesday.
Seniors from Union Hill High School were bused into Longview's Lois Jackson Park, to get educated on a "Day in the Life" in the Army.
Marching from station to station, the teens got first hand accounts of what a soldiers routine consists of - from sun-up to sun-down - and all that is required of a private.
"The Army is all about opportunity - educating the public about what we have to offer," said Sergeant First Class Oel Quniters, with the U.S. Army. "Our biggest goal is to show the kids how the Army can help them achieve their hope dreams and desires."
"The program you can get your nursing degree faster than you could in college, and they give you money to spend, and it helps you out a lot," said Marquita Bell, a Union Hill High School senior.
The program is part of the Army recruiting efforts to show high schoolers the career opportunities in the Armed Forces.
