Missing man found dead in boat on Lake Palestine

Released by the Henderson County Sheriff's Office:

LAKE PALESTINE, TX - On April 18, 2010, Henderson County Sheriff Deputy Mitchum Patterson responded to a call of a missing person at Lake Palestine. It was reported that a 51-year-old male had gone fishing alone on Lake Palestine on Friday April 16, 2010. His vehicle and boat trailer were found at a public ramp on FM 315. According to information provided by witnesses the vehicle had not moved since Friday.

Texas Game Wardens Shawn Smith and Dustin Balfanz were called in to assist with the search. After a search of the area by boat Wardens Smith and Balfanz located the missing person. He was deceased in his boat with no signs of trauma. Henderson County Investigators were called to the scene and the victim's body was sent to the Medical Examiner's Office in Dallas for an autopsy. According to preliminary reports from the Medical Examiner's Office the cause of death was due to natural causes. The victim's name was not released because family notification is pending.
