LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Union Pacific's "Living Legend" steam train N0. 844 stopped in Longview Tuesday. The nearly one million pound engine and tender is on a return trip to Cheyenne,  Wyoming.

Kelly Buchanek brought her son Caleb. He's a big train advocate, and we heard that this train was coming to town, we had to come see it. Locomotive Engineman, Ed Dickens said, "This is one of the best designed locomotives in the country."

It was designed and built by American Locomotive Company and Union Pacific Railroad. There are documented cases when the locomotives would operate at one hundred miles per hour.

The old guys would get called into work looking forward to a nice clean diesel, but there were those who looked forward to operating one of these like we do today.

Steam Locomotive No. 844 left Longview Wednesday at 8 a.m.
