Monday night the board of trustees approved the hiring of Dana Sustaire as the principal of Lindale's Early Childhood Center. Sustaire is currently the assistant principal of Pine Tree Elementary School in Longview.
Sustaire has an impressive history with several East Texas school districts. She began her career at Wise Elementary School in Chapel Hill as a first and second grade teacher from 1995-2002. Sustaire served as assistant principal of Rice Elementary School in Tyler for six years and was interim principal in 2008. She returned to Wise Elementary School to work as the Reading First coach from 2008-2009.
Sustaire earned her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Tyler in 1995 and her Master of Education in Educational Administration from UT Tyler in 2002. Sustaire earned her principal certification in 2002.
Her list of honors includes the Teacher of the Year Award at Wise Elementary School in 1999 and also Teacher of the Month at Wise in 1997.
Sustaire replaces Dr. Belinda Neal who will serve as principal of Lindale Primary School next school year. Dr. Neal will take the reins from Robbie Lyons who is retiring after 28 years with LISD.
"The district received applications from many quality applicants but Mrs. Sustaire stood out among the group," LISD Superintendent Stan Surratt said. "Her compassion for students and teachers was a distinguishing characteristic. Mrs. Sustaire has a reputation for very high expectations and student success."
"Everyone we talked to in reference to Mrs. Sustatire gave raving reviews therefore making it very easy to recommend her as the new ECC principal. The ECC has developed into a special place under the leadership of Dr. Neal and we expect nothing but continued success and greatness under the tenure of Mrs. Sustaire."
