COFFEE CITY, TX (KLTV) - He is an East Texas student who decided he can change his community for the better and he hopes his neighbors agree.
Coffee City teenager, Gage Guinn, is running for city council and, while he may lack experience at age 19, he says he more than makes up for it.
"Nowadays, we get that stereotypical response from youth, 'Oh, the youth are bad and the youth have nothing to offer,'" said Guinn. "Well, I want to change that...I really believe I'm well qualified to run for city office here because I've lived here forever and I just have a lot of good ideas and I just want to help. That's the main goal...trying to help people out, and you really don't need a lot of experience to help people out."
The teen, who is trying to squeeze in campaigning between classes, says he has big plans for his hometown.
