COLLEGE STATION, TX (KLTV) - Texas A&M defensive lineman Adren Dorsey was arrested Tuesday, accused of hurting his girlfriend.  According to the police report, the ex-girlfriend admitted to slapping Dorsey first and that's when the argument turned physical.  The girlfriend claims Dorsey grabbed her around the neck, slamming her on the trunk of his car and throwing her on the ground.  Dorsey, a Tyler native, has been charged with assault family violence and is out on bail.

Texas A&M Head Football Coach Mike Sherman released a statement Wednesday. "I am very disappointed to learn that one of our players would be involved in something of this nature. Adren is suspended indefinitely as we investigate this matter."

According to the Houston Chronicle, Dorsey had been competing for a starting spot at Texas A&M spring football practices.  The spring game is Saturday afternoon.
