Body found in house fire may be former Lone Star mayor

LONE STAR, TX (KLTV) - LONE STAR, TX (KLTV) - The Lone Star Fire Department says a body recovered from a house fire Tuesday night was so badly burned they could not tell if it was a man or woman.

They say the home belonged to former mayor, Maggie Curtis, but are waiting on an autopsy to determine the body's identity.

Fire crews raced to the home in the 100 block of Jefferson Street just before 11 o'clock Tuesday night.

The home is a total loss. The Lone Star Fire Chief says when they arrived, flames were at least 50'-60' high.

They say it will take at least a week to investigate the cause.
