CANTON, TX (KLTV) - Students at Canton Junior High came together to make it a very special 14th birthday for Erick Nava. KLTV profiled Nava in February after he scored seven points in a Canton 8th grade basketball game. Nava has down's syndrome, but that hasn't kept him off the basketball court. Wednesday morning Nava was surprised with his very own basketball goal and ball.
Nava says he was very excited and surprised. Over 300 Canton students pitched in over 400 dollars to pay for the basketball equipment.
"It just made me feel like we did something good," said 8th grader Ashlyn Dickerson. "That he really enjoyed what we gave him, he was surprised."
