One killed in Longview crash

Longview, TX (KLTV) - A late night auto accident in Longview claimed the life of one East Texas woman , and hospitalized 4 others.

It happened just before 10:30 Saturday night in the 2500 block of MLK Boulevard at Sapphire Street.

Officers arrived and found that a car driven by 64-year-old Dorothy Daniels, had collided with a another vehicle driven by 33-year-old Jia Thompson.

According to witnesses, Daniels had been southbound on MLK and had attempted to turn onto Sapphire street, when she was struck by Thompson, who had been northbound on MLK.

  One of Daniels' passengers, 75-year-old Bobbie Portley of Longview, died a short time later as a result of her injuries.

4 people remain hospitalized. Traffic officers believe that Thompson was traveling at a high rate of speed and was intoxicated. Charges may be filed once the investigation is completed.
