TYLER, TX (KLTV) - East Texans are loading up their spring shopping baskets with bargains. The bi-annual Children's Clothing Consignment Sale has started and going through the weekend. It is an opportunity for all the member of your family to find deals for less.

Becky Kitchens straps her daughter in for an afternoon of bargain hunting.

"I quit my job when I had her to stay home, and so it's a great way to giver her all the things that I want to give her," said Kitchens.

Becky says she is so pleased with the Children's Clothing Consignment Sale that she took two trips in one day.

"I walked back in and I thought, 'Oh no, they are going to think I am a crazy person,'" laughed Kitchens. "But, I saw some stuff earlier and I didn't want to be an impulsive buyer and I got to driving around Tyler and I said, 'Ok, I need to go back and pick some stuff.'"

This is the 16 consignment sale for organizer Tess Murphy. She and a friend came up with the idea when their families began to grow.

"What I love about it is it's like a recycle, re-use, re-purpose within the borders of East Texas," said Murphey. "We have all of these local families swapping out amongst themselves."

East Texans donate their items for the sale and receive part of the proceeds. Merchandise that is left over from the sale is donated to the Salvation Army and other local non-profit groups. It is not only a children's clothing sale, there are deals for the whole family.

"There is furniture for your home, so if you're looking for items like couches and bed," said Senoya Driskel.

No matter what you are looking for, you are sure to find a steal. Saturday is the last day for the sale. It will be open from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Harvey Convention Center and most items will be marked down half-price.

The John Tyler Lions always seem to look sharp in their uniforms. But thanks to East Texas lawyer Keith Miller, the Lions will look better and play safer. Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag. Miller's donation of 7,500 dollars, will go to help the lions cover that cost. "Keith Miller's been a big sponsor of John Tyler High School football program for years now.  I know it's...More >>
