Arrest made in aggravated assault

Released by the Tyler Police Department:

TYLER, TX - On April 8, 2010 Investigators with the Tyler Police Department arrested William Lamon Goodwin DOB: 02-12-1975 on a warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The arrest stems from the investigation in the 800 block of Buckley Street in Tyler. The victim, Donald Derrick Porter DOB: 10-31-1968 received non-life threatening injuries during the dispute.

On 04-07-2010 Tyler Police responded to the 800 block of Buckley Street in reference to an Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon call. When Officers arrived they located a single gunshot victim sitting inside a vehicle at this location. The victim advised that a suspect walked up to his vehicle and opened fire with a handgun. The victim was shot once in the left arm and was transported to East Texas Medical Center. The suspect was described as a black male approximately 30 years of age wearing blue jeans and no shirt.
