Police: Early morning vehicle burglar arrested

LONGVIEW, TX – On April 6, 2010 at around 1:20 a.m., Longview Officers were dispatched to the Tree House apartments at 600 West Avalon Street for a vehicle burglary in-progress call. The caller told dispatchers that a man wearing shorts and a red ball cap was seen burglarizing her car and he was now running southbound on the railroad tracks towards Richardson Street.

Officers blanketed the area and found the suspect hiding behind a house near the intersection of Richardson and Fowler Street. The suspect, Idmar Rubio, was arrested and found to have a large kitchen knife in his waistband. Rubio was positively identified by witnesses to the burglary and he was booked into the Gregg County Jail for burglary of a vehicle (Class A misdemeanor), unlawful carrying of a weapon (Class A misdemeanor) and an outstanding warrant for theft.
