EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - The Cheap Eat deals are out there if you know where to look. I started in Tyler and got lucky. When you start seeing windsocks out the windows, a second look is required.
The Skyline Cafe is a joint effort of Larry and Becky Kalmowitz who know plenty about good food.
"We have three generations of restaurateurs," they explained.
The culinary wisdom comes in handy. A steam cooked all beef dog, a buttered fryhoffer bun, and plenty of fries are bursting with flavor and soon delivered. Skyline Cafe's drink and a dog special only costs you $5.
Next up was another restaurant making a name for itself in 2010.
Shack Daddy's in Longview is in the competitive barbeque business, and lets the food speak for itself. Creative Cook's Jodie and Monty Hardin amass a menu filled with food at $5 or less.
From steak, to meat loaf, to chicken and ground beef, Cheap Eaters have their pick.
They get you in, you eat, you have a good meal and you are out the door again.
The daily specials consisting of an entree, two sides, and a drink run exactly $5, making Mojo's this Cheap Eats winner.
