Police Department Says Goodbye to Longtime Employee

A woman who's helped Tyler's police department run smoothly says goodbye after more than 20 years of service.

Yolanda Muhammad is leaving her position as Communications Supervisor. A reception in her honor was held at the department Wednesday afternoon. Since 1982, she has trained dispatchers to get help to those who need it.

"It's hard to say goodbye to everybody, but it's a transition phase in my life, I've enjoyed working with all the people here, and the friends." Muhammad says.

Chief Gary Swindle says about Yolanda: "At the drop of a dime, in the middle of the night, if we needed help, she would come in and take over, get everything running smoothly."

Yolanda Muhammad won't be slowing down. She's going to work for the 9-1-1 Network of East Texas as Communications Director there.
