GILMER, TEXAS (KLTV) - Gilmer native Manuel Johnson can't wait for the Cowboys preseason. It's his shot to make the final roster. Last year Johnson was drafted by the Cowboys in the seventh round. He was cut before the season started, then signed to the practice squad. After catching up with Johnson last weekend in Gilmer, he was upbeat about his chances with the Cowboys in 2010.
"I learned a lot," said Johnson. "I treated it as college like a redshirt year. I was fortunate to be around Roy Williams and Miles Austin, Tony Romo, some of the guys that have been around the league for a while and was able to learn from them."
Johnson didn't get to play in a game last season, but he plans on cracking the lineup in year two.
"I feel like I have a great opportunity to go out there and show my talent," said Johnson. "Obviously it's going to take a lot of work, but I'm up for it."
