TYLER, TX (KLTV) - TYLER, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas school is bending their dress code, all to help one of their own. The Caps for Connor drive is on at Douglas Elementary School in Tyler.
Connor Wall is a first grader at Douglas who is now in need of a heart transplant.
Students and teachers pay one dollar for permission to wear hats in school, with all the money going to Connor's family.
Teachers say they are not surprised by the generosity the children are showing.
"This is a very caring group of kids that I have here," said Laura Snyder, a teacher. "They've been very concerned about Connor and his family. So, I wasn't surprised they want to do something for Conner."
Teachers also wanted to pass along a message to Connor that they look forward to having him back in class.
