East Texans are now using technology to help them show support for troops overseas.Web sites like "Adopt our Troops" have thousands of Americans linking to them for soldier names. Once users log onto the site, they can search for a soldier to pray for. More than 500,000 citizens have participated so far.
Local spiritual leaders say the Internet is connecting people to soldiers in ways they never thought possible.
"With the technology we had just a few years ago," says Reverend Jerome Milton with Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Tyler. "You had to send a letter or care packages, but now technology puts you there and puts them back home."
