Released by the CHEROKEE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE:

CHEROKEE COUNTY, TX - On Tuesday March 9, 2010 at approximately 1000 hours, a six week investigation conducted by Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Narcotic Investigators was concluded when numerous law enforcement agencies gathered to serve and execute a Narcotics Search and Arrest Warrant on two homes located on Cherokee County Road 2432 near Alto, Texas. Assisting in the Search and Arrest Sheriff James Campbell, Chief Deputy Keith Radcliff, the 13 member Cherokee County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team, Captain David Womack and 2 Deputies from the CCSO Patrol Division, Constable Jack White of the Cherokee County Precinct #2 Constable's Office, Constable Jamie Beene of the Cherokee County Precinct #4 Constable's Office, and 5 Officers from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice K-9 Division.

Investigators had received information that one or more individuals were actively selling narcotics in the area and began conducting surveillance in late January of 2010. The surveillance confirmed the report that investigators had received and more pro-active investigation methods were utilized, including the actual purchase of narcotics from individuals in the area.

Investigators submitted a Search Warrant Affidavit to Cherokee County Court-at-Law Judge Craig Fletcher who issued a Search Warrant for the Ricky Brown Residence located at 158 CR 2432 Alto, Texas. This residential property consisted of a mobile home, a wood framed residence, carports, garages a pool hall and numerous other outbuildings and structures. Based on their investigation, Investigators obtained an Arrest Warrant for Ricky Brown for Delivery of Marijuana from Cherokee County Justice of the Peace Precinct #1 Judge Brenda Dominy, another Arrest Warrant for Ricky Brown for Delivery of a Controlled Substance was issued by Cherokee County Justice of the Peace Precinct #2 Judge Teresa Phifer and an Arrest Warrant for Charles Skinner for Deliver of a Controlled Substance was also issued by Judge Teresa Phifer.

During the execution of the warrant, Officers were met with aggressive "Pit-Bull" type canines chained near many of the entrances to the homes and outbuildings. Officers further discovered 5 individuals outside the structures and one individual inside a home. During the search of the property, Officers located and seized a Dodge Avenger passenger car, over $3,100 in cash, nearly 2 pounds of marijuana (street value of nearly $1,000), over 32 grams of powder Cocaine (street value of nearly $2,000), 11.6 grams of crack Cocaine (street value of nearly $1,000) and numerous and assorted prescription pills.
