LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) – Army PFC Devvyn Eddington visited students at Mozelle Johnson Elementary school to thank them for their cards and gifts that he received Christmas while on duty in Iraq.

He brought two t-shirts emblazoned with "GO ARMY" as thanks to two girls in Ms. Rhonda Smalls' 5th grade class, that had drawn Christmas cards for him.

"My class wrote cards to the soldiers, and two of the ladies in this classroom got to meet private Eddington because he received the letters," said Ms. Small.

"That's an exciting feeling," beamed PFC Eddington, "It was very enjoyable for me because I probably knew the kids."

Devvyn, who graduated in 2008 from Gladewater High and a former Bear quarterback, answered question from the class about life on an Army base in Iraq. He wanted to show his gratitude by going to the classroom and personally thanking the students.

"I like writing to people and I like drawing that's why I did it," said Mozelle student, Kira Isaac.

"I thank everybody in the army for helping us out and hope that they enjoy are letters," said Kaylee Jimmerson.

PFC Eddington is on leave for 20 days before returning to Iraq to complete his tour.
