April Has More Silliness Than Just Fools Day

   We all know today is April Fool's Day, and April 15th is tax day. But, did you know it's National Stress Awareness Month and National Anxiety Month? It's also Child Abuse Prevention Month and Alcohol Awareness Month. There are literally dozens of organizations, causes, and foods which claim April as their special time of the year.

   On the food front, it's National Fresh Celery Month and National Fresh Florida Tomatoes Month. It's also National Soy foods Month. April 2nd is Peanut Butter and Jelly Day. April 14th is National Pecan Day, even though it's not pecan growing, planting, or harvesting season.

   Outside, it's National Gardening Month, Earth Day comes on the 22nd, and Arbor Day is on the 27th.

   After April Fools Day, the goofiness continues. April 3rd is "Don't Go to Work Unless it's Fun Day." April 6th is "Plan Your Epitaph Day." And April 13th is "Blame Somebody Else Day."

    Ever heard the saying, "treat yourself"? Well today was the perfect day to do it, because two East Texas teams paired up with local Dairy Queens to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network.  Serving guest at the drive-thru and enjoying some ice-cream themselves, John Tyler Lions and Tyler Lee Red Raiders football took part in Miracle Treat Day.  A five dollar donation was worth a small blizzard.
