TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Lloyd George flew 31 missions over Germany in World War II in his B-26 Martin Marauder. The plane had been given many nicknames by its crews including "The B Dash Crash" because it was so vulnerable to being shot down.
The Marauder weighed 38,000 pounds loaded and only flew at 10,000'-12,000', making it a sitting duck for German ground fire and fighter planes.
Lloyd George received three Air Medals and a Presidential Citation for his bravery. Although George had many close calls on his missions, he returned home in 1945, with his days of war only memories.
