Before the demolition could take place, East Texans had to help move the Carr family's belongings out of their home. All that work makes for a rumbling stomach, right?More >>

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - The excitement is raging across East Texas with Extreme Makeover Home Edition making its way to Mineola to give the Carr family a much deserved new home. But how will the weather affect the construction of this new home? With only seven day to do this massive construction project, one would hope Mother Nature would cooperate, and it looks as though for the most part she will.
Now today's forecast is pretty dreary for the Mineola area with low clouds, mist and fog being the rule. It does appear that some drier air will move in between 1:00 and 3:00 PM giving the folks working on the major demolition project a break in the rain. But soon after, the wrap around moisture from our area of low pressure will move back into the area giving us another chance of rain until about 9:00PM.
Then it looks as though weather conditions will improve. The weekend is actually looking fairly nice as we see partly cloudy skies tomorrow and dry conditions. Highs temperatures will reach the middle to upper 50s in the afternoon and low 60s Sunday afternoon. Rain will move back into the forecast late Sunday night through Monday but right now it appears the heaviest rain will remain south of Mineola with around a half inch falling between Sunday night and Monday night.
After Monday's rain the rest of the project looks dry. Temperatures will warm to the lower to middle 60s by Wednesday and Thursday giving us some pretty nice weather to end the Extreme Makeover Home Edition project for East Texas. Let me say there is a slight chance of showers moving into the area late Thursday but the optimist in me wants to hold the rain chances until late Friday.
