Photo Source: FacebookI have been asked soooo many times this week, "So, Ellen. We're friends, right? Do you know who the Extreme family will be?" And, as much as I wish I could have said, "Yes, I know…but I can't tell you! Ha!" I didn't know…until now! As you have no doubt read the wait is over!!! Mike and Katrina Carr along with their four children will have their life changed forever as East Texans and the Extreme Makeover team join forces in building them a new home.
What an incredible experience to be a part of! And, while the family's life will surely be changed, I believe the impact on all East Texans will be tremendous as well. OK enough sappy stuff! In this "Ellen's Extreme Blog" entry I'm giving you a look at what my reporters say is happening at the site right now!
Courtney Lane is waiting for her interview with the Carrs. She said the family has been filming with the Extreme team all morning and are just now wrapping up lunch. Courtney says all the shows stars are here. (How exciting! She said they've seen Ty Pennington out and about!) In fact, reporter Layron Livingston snagged an interview with designer Paige Hemmis this morning! (She seems like such a fun person!) Paige said they have a special SURPRISE planned for the family, but they need your help. The team will be having a limb drive in the Carrs' honor. Any prosthetic arms, legs, etc people have will be collected and sent to Haiti. The drive is Sunday at 2pm in Dallas at the Atrium in the Scottish Right Hospital. So if you know someone who has out grown their limb(s) please consider asking them to donate it to the drive to be used by someone in need!
OK, that's the latest info from the home sight so far! Will keep you posted on KLTV news at 5, 6, and 10. Plus, I will be spending all my "off" time at the site and keeping you up-to-date on things. By the way, please email me pictures of you and your friends helping the Extreme team out. (Or, you can send them to theloop@kltv.com) Can't wait to see you all!
Tears, cheers and inspiration
Got a hammer? Me, too! Let's get started!
