The colorful history of the East Texas oil patch and Kilgore. That's the focus of a new book written by an East Texas author. Rare photographs and colorful first hand accounts accent the book called "Echoes". It focuses on the time when Kilgore was known as the Oil Capital of America. Co-author Terry Stembridge collected material for the book over the past decade. He was at the Kilgore Library today for book signing. From famous people who came from the area, to the war years and beyond. The book chronicles a boom-town that survived when so many didn't. Proceeds from the book sales will go to help with the restoration of the old downtown post office building.
