Put on your TAPPS dancing shoes

By Coleman Swierc

TYLER, TEXAS (KLTV) - Two different schools, two different teams, two incredible seasons.

"It is awesome to do something that no one ever expected you to do," said All Saints senior Harrison Jenkins.

"Anything less than a state championship would be a failure," said Brook Hill senior Jeremy Chappelle.

Winning has become commonplace at Brook Hill, and the Guard will return to the state tournament for the 3rd straight season.

"I am sure that everyone will be a bit more excited if we are able to get that first round game," said point guard Tyler Baker, "It should be a lot like last year, so we are excited."

"We don't want to go back and just show up, we want to win," said guard Austin Langemeier, "And we want to take it with pride and beat them by alot."

Fifteen miles away, the rage at All Saints, lies with the Trojan basketball team, headed to the same state tournament for the first time ever.

"No one expected us to go anywhere," said Jenkins, "And that is kind of disappointing your senior year for no one to come out and expect you to do anything, but it is awesome when you do what no one expected."

"I am going to be nervous, I am not going to lie," said senior Jalam Lewis, "Our whole team is going to be nervous, but we are excited, to be one game away from state, it was our goal at the beginning at the year."

"The nerves will definitaly be there," added center Cameron Skief, "I know I will be nervous, it is going to be really crazy."

First time nerves may affect the Trojans, not unlike Brook Hill was, one year ago.

"No one really expected them to be there, being the underdog like we last year, they are going to feel alot of emotions," said Chappelle.

One more win by each...would set up a final showdown, and one last chance to cap the perfect season.

"We expect to win," said Jenkins, "We expect to win everygame we walk into."

"We are really glad that they [All Saints] are in the state tournament," said Chappelle, "But we want to win it all."

Both teams will play semi-final games on Friday from Summit High School in Mansfield.

Brook Hill will face New Braunsfels Christian at 6:30.

All Saints will follow against Fort Worth Country Day at 8:00.

The state championship is set for Saturday.
