Tyler Salvation Army has ground breaking for new housing

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Do you know a senior in need of housing? The Tyler Salvation Army is reaching out to low income seniors in need of housing.

City and Salvation Army officials braved the cold to break ground on the Catherine Booth garden apartments.

The $6.9 million project includes 72 units and the complex should be complete in 14 months.

"It makes us feel good...it's been over a decade in the conception, land acquisition and approval process and today we actually mobilize our general contractor, Altman-Charter out of St. Louis, Missouri," said Michael Hicks, Director of Operations, with the Salvation Army of Tyler.

The three-story building will offer affordable housing to folks 62 and older who qualify.
