EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Calling all plumbers, painters, roofers, carpenters, and do-it-yourself-ers!You have been emailing, calling, and even stopping us in the grocery store, wanting to know how you can help pull off East Texas' own Extreme Makeover.

Your time has come!

The countdown is on until East Texas welcomes home their own deserving family. So, how do you get started in the volunteer process? The East Texas Extreme Makeover: Home Edition website is where it's at.

You input your information, skills and expertise into the website and it is fed into a database that is sent on to the project coordinators. If you don't happen to have a skill, no worries! Helping hands are still welcome.

"The generosity of the people of East Texas is great...nobody has said no," said Gary Bayless.

Bayless is the builder who is expected to make one East Texas family's dream home come true in less than a week.

When word first got out, Bayless says his own company website crashed with over 27,000 hits.

"It was a very good thing to see that there are that many people that really care about people," he said.

Bayless says his project managers are already in place, but the more the merrier.

Last week, we took you to south central Oklahoma where an Extreme team of Sooners raced against the clock and mother nature for one of their own.

"I saw tired eyes...and smiles," said Joe Runnels, co-owner of Bayless Custom Homes.

Many of the volunteers worked in the cold and the mud.  "I am praying for nice weather," said Bayless.

"I think east Texas is going to knock it out of the ball park," said Runnels.

The gateway is open so step up, East Texas, but keep in mind the clock is ticking.

A special volunteer pep rally is already scheduled for next Thursday morning at Green Acres Baptist Church to kick things off. And, just as expected, the website is already getting tons of hits, so if it doesn't work for you, be patient, and just keep trying.

This Extreme build is also going to need a lot of financial support. The website also gives a place to make secure credit card donations. You can also donate products, or services to help the chosen family. The Extreme team says they hope to lift as many burdens as possible off the chosen East Texas family.

"Our objective is that we're going to raise a lot of money for this family," said Darrin Bryan, an Extreme team member. "We know that there's going to be medical needs, we know that there's going to be living expenses, we know that there's going to be a mortgage involved here, and all the money raised from this community will go toward that family."

"I know the heart of East Texas and I love East Texas and this is the greatest place in the country to live and I don't foresee that being a problem, at all," said Gary Bayless.

Cash donations can be made at any Texas Bank and Trust branch.
