Join Salvation Army for 7th Annual Chili Bowl and Auction

Released by the Salvation Army of Tyler:

TYLER, TX - For the past 6 years, East Texans have enjoyed the sights, sounds, and especially the smells, and tastes of The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary Chili Bowl and Auction.  With a long list of treasures to be auctioned, this year's event promises to be as award-winning as Sheriff J.B. Smith's chili. Now at the Harvey Convention Center, The Salvation Army's Chili Bowl and Auction provides a fun, festive atmosphere for all members of the East Texas community to come together on Thursday, February 11, 2010.  Tickets are selling for only $10 which provides for auction entry and as much award-winning chili as you want, as well as the enjoyment of live music.  Numerous items have been donated for the festivities, which will be sold via silent auction during dinner, which is offered from 5:00 to 6:30pm.  However, the largest items will be auctioned off in a live auction at 7:00pm and will feature a VW convertible donated by Ed King including free oil and filter changes and tire rotation for a year courtesy of Crown Motor Company, two front row tickets to a Dallas Stars game, a night at the Four Seasons in Austin (dinner at Eddie V's Seafood Grille included), a year's supply of groceries courtesy of Brookshire Grocery Co., and two 50-yd line east side club seats-University of Texas vs. Baylor (buffet included)!

As in the past, we have been working with Chick-fil-A to promote this event.  Ed King has donated a VW Cabrio convertible to be auctioned at the event.  This Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, one of the Chick-fil-A cows will be riding in the convertible (as a passenger).  The first ten people to call The Salvation Army after spotting the cow will receive a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A sandwich.  They are also winning the chance to buy 1 get 1 free of our Chili Bowl tickets, which are usually ten dollars apiece.  For every ticket they purchase they receive a coupon for Chick-fil-A's new fruit and yogurt parfait.  Chick-fil-A is also donating their delicious chicken noodle soup to serve at the event in addition to Sheriff J.B. Smith's award-winning chili.  We are so thankful for our friends at Chick-fil-A for their help with this event.

On February 11, 2010, join in the festivities and wonderful meal, for the 7th year in a row, at Harvey Convention Center from 5-8pm for dinner and the silent auction.  Be sure to be there at 7:00pm for the live auction and help The Salvation Army in Tyler continue ‘Doing the Most Good'!  Tickets are available for $10 by calling The Salvation Army at 903.592.4361. All proceeds raised from this event will benefit the programs of The Salvation Army, including our 24/7 shelter facilities, our homelessness prevention program, our work programs, and our children's activities such as summer camp, after-school tutoring, and the Tyler School of Music.
