Longview Regional Medical Center Announces In-Network Coverage

Posted: Updated:

Longview, TX - Beginning on February 15, 2010, Longview Regional Medical Center will become an in-network provider for all individuals participating in a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas health plan.

"As a long time proponent of patient choice, Longview Regional is looking forward to a new era of open insurance networks in Longview. We believe everyone should utilize the hospital of their preference for their healthcare needs" said Jim Kendrick, Chief Executive Officer at Longview Regional Medical Center.

Kendrick went on to say, "This new relationship allows Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas members to choose Longview Regional Medical Center and receive care from the hospital with the highest quality rankings in the area."

According to the most recent comparative Core Measures data (www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov) released November 23, 2009, Longview Regional Medical Center was ranked highest in quality for patients being treated for surgical care, heart attack, pneumonia, and heart failure.  The data is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Quality Initiative, which is intended to make important information about hospital performance accessible to the public.  This national survey represents CMS's attempt to collect and share standardized quality measures to assist the public with choosing the best place to receive care.
