HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) - A Hammond man is accused of using a hole in his attic to get into another man's apartment.

According to reports, the victim was in his apartment Wednesday and heard loud music and noises coming from his attic. Shortly thereafter, he saw a man trying to get into his apartment via his attic door, but fled when he realized the victim was home.

After an investigation, Zachary Braud, 19, was arrested.  An inspection of Braud's attic revealed a hole large enough for a person to fit through in the firewall.  Deputies say Braud was the only other resident home in the apartment building at the time of the incident and noted that he had small pieces of particle board in his hair when they spoke with him.

While searching Braud's apartment, deputies say they saw three glass pipes and what appeared to be marijuana residue.

Braud has been charged with attempted simple burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia.
