Kilgore College hosts Service Fair

KILGORE, TX (KLTV) - Giving your time to make your community a better place, was the focus of an event in Kilgore Wednesday; the Service Fair at the Devall Student Center on the campus of Kilgore College.

The purpose of the fair is to increase awareness about volunteer and service opportunities in the community. More than 25 educational and charity organizations turned out to talk to students about the causes they can volunteer for.

"The primary purpose of the Service Fair is to increase involvement in these organizations and also to help people become more aware of the types of services that are available and issues that are important in their community," explained Michelle Wilder, the Kilgore College Service Learning Program Director.

"I guess sometimes you feel like you can't really make a difference - don't know how to get started, and a service fair like this, it really does show you that there are ways to get involved," said Stephanie Guzman, a Kilgore College student.

For those who missed Wednesday's fair, you can find out more about volunteer opportunities by calling Kilgore College.
