Lost an pet? Smith County may have a solution

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Smith County Animal Control has launched a new online tool to help worried pet owners.

As soon as an animal is picked up, animal control officers will take a photo and upload it to the Smith County website. The size, gender, and kind of the animal will also be included.

If "Rover" goes missing, owners can go online and search to see if their pet has been located.

"We're not going to charge them and write tickets and all that but, if we have to do that over and over for the same person, yes, we're going to take action," said Chief Bobby Garmon, with the Smith County Sheriff's Department.

We are told the animals will only be online for four days. The sheriff's department says they hope the site helps livestock owners find their missing animals, too.
