PALESTINE, TEXAS (KLTV) -  The coaching carousel continues in East Texas.  Canton High School is looking for a new athletic director while Palestine has been touched by an angel.  Lance Angel.

After spending four years in Canton, Angel was officially hired as Palestine's new athletic director and head football coach on Thursday.   Angel is pumped to make the move, but will miss his players in Canton.

"It's really tough leaving the kids," said Angel.  "That's a great group of kids over there. They're going to have great success. That's why the decision for us, we took our time. Me and my wife really felt led to be here. We looked into Palestine quite a bit and it just seemed like the right fit and were excited and look forward to the opportunity and ready to get things going."

113 coaches applied for the job.  It's appealing position, because of the renovation to the football stadium.

With the smallest enrollment in District 17-5A, and really across the entire classification, Lindale could use that as an excuse for a sub-par season. But under defensive coordinator, turned head coach Chris Cochran, that won't be the case.
