TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Toyota has now expanded a previous recall which included 4.2 million cars.

Last November, the company recalled 2007-2010 Camry, Tundra and Lexus ES 350 models, along with 2005-2010 Avalon, 2004-2009 Prius, 2010 Tacoma's, and 2006-2010 IS 250 and IS 350 models.

Floor mats in those vehicles could snag the gas pedal, making it stick.

The expanded list covers the 2008-2010 Highlander, 2009-2010 Corollas, Venzas, and Matrix models.  The 2009-2010 Pontiac Vibe, a GM product, is also included on the list.  That is because the Vibe was engineered and designed by Toyota.

"The automobile industry is an extremely competitive business," said Brad Hall, sales manager with Hall Buick, GMC in Tyler. "If one manufacturer slips, all the others are going to pounce on it."

GM is now offering up to $1,000 cash on almost every GM product, or 0% financing for Toyota and Lexus owners, exclusively.  The "conquest incentives" are an effort to "conquer" wary Toyota customers.

As soon as the folks at Hall GM received word of the incentives from corporate, they quickly spread the word during a radio ad, Thursday morning.

But will it work?

Zak Nix, general manager of Yates GM, said a woman approached him, Wednesday.  She was driving a 2009 Camry.  "She was very concerned about the accelerator pedal sticking and wanted to make a change," said Nix.

Nix said the offer is for '99, or newer Toyota and Lexus owners.

"Whether it be a mother with three children, or a retired family with grandchildren, everybody wants safety," he said.

Hall said about 40 percent of the trade-ins for GMC Acadia's and Buick Enclave's are Toyota cars.

GM will offer its incentives through February.
