Released by the Henderson County:

LOG CABIN, TX - Former Log Cabin Police Chief, Rebecca Baskin pled guilty to a theft by a public servant charge, a third degree felony, on January 22nd.  Baskin entered her plea in front of 392nd District Judge Carter Tarrance.  Baskin's plea was not the result of a plea bargain.  Therefore, she could face 2-10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.  Baskin is also legally eligible for probation should the court decide to probate her sentence.

Baskin was arrested in June of last year after an investigation by the District Attorney's Office, FBI and Texas Rangers with assistance from the Henderson County Sheriff's Department.  Shortly after the arrest, District Attorney Scott McKee would not provide specific details about the case due to the ongoing investigation.  Baskin is set to be sentenced on March 29th.  McKee indicated that he would release full details of the facts of the case and investigation after sentencing.
