Fatal shooting at Little Goat's Liquor Store near Garrison

Posted: Updated:

SHELBY COUNTY (KTRE) - Shelby County sheriff's deputies are investigating the shooting death of a business owner.

Shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday, law enforcement responded to a 911 call to Lil' Goat's Liquor Store on FM 138 in the Stockman community. Authorities found Bobbie Lynn Carlton, 57, lying inside the business with a bullet wound to the head.

She was transported to a Nacogdoches hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A friend says his wife arrived what he believes was moment after the shooting.

"Bobbie Lynn came down and opened up and my wife was right behind her. So if she'd been a little sooner, she might be in there where Bobbie Lynn was," said Delbert Clepper, who has known Carlton for 20 years.

Carlton lived nearby off of FM 415, according to Shelby County Sheriff Newton Johnson.

Texas Rangers are assisting in the investigation. Investigators would not provide further details on the death, or information on a possible suspect.
